Fingerprint Requests

Fingerprint requests are taken by appointment only.  We charge $10.00 per card for residents and $20.00 per card for non-residents.  Please call to schedule an appointment if this service is needed.  Walk-in fingerprint requests are not always available due to staffing levels.


Obtain a Gun Permit

Application forms are available at the SLMPD administrative offices, 24150 Smithtown Road in Shorewood, during regular business hours or you can complete a fillable Permit to Transfer or Acquire PDF application located at the Forms and Resources link of our website.  Once the application is completed, print it out and deliver it in person to the SLMPD administrative offices during regular business hours. Applicants must be residents of one of the four cities served by SLMPD. Positive picture identification required.


Obtain a Police Report or Photos.

Requests for police reports must be made during regular business hours by contacting 952-474-3261.

Accident Report Copies:
.25 – Per page

Report Copies – All Other Copies
.25 – Per page if more than 4 pages.

Color Photos
$1.00 per photo


Obtaining Squad Video, Body Worn Camera (BWC) Video or Booking Video

Requests for squad video, BWC or booking video must be made during regular business hours by contacting 952-474-3261.  In most cases, videos will be sent by a downloadable link.  The fee is $25.00 for each requested video.


Participate in a Ride-Along

Persons pursuing employment or education in law enforcement, law enforcement personnel from other agencies, and city personnel (including elected officials in the performance of their duties), can request to participate in a ride-along with an SLMPD officer. If you meet one of these requirements, call the SLMPD at 952-474-3261 during business hours and ask to speak to a supervisor to arrange a ride-along.


Property Releases

Property releases are completed by appointment only, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.  Please be aware that if your property was seized as evidence, your property will not be released until the prosecutor assigned to the case authorizes its release.  Please contact Public Safety Officer Dave Hohertz at 952-960-1619 to schedule your appointment.
