Employment for Full-Time Entry Level Police Officer

The South Lake Minnetonka Police Department (SLMPD) is seeking qualified applicants with exceptional character for a police officer eligibility roster. Starting salary is $25.84/hour plus excellent benefits. The SLMPD is a progressive organization with a commitment to excellence serving four cities, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood and Tonka Bay, in southwestern Hennepin County.  Applicants must be licensed or eligible to be licensed at the time of employment.  Application forms can be downloaded from the SLMPD web site at www.southlakepd.com.  If unable to download these forms, an application packet can be requested by calling 952.474.3261 or by e-mailing lholtan@southlakepd.com.  Completed applications submitted by mail or courier must be postmarked by November 2, 2016. Completed applications dropped off in person must be received at the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department by 4:30 p.m. on this same date.  Faxed or emailed applications will not be accepted.

Volunteer Reserve Officer Position

The SLMPD Reserve Unit is currently seeking interested applicants who meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • At least 19 years old
  • Good physical condition
  • Possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license
  • Have no felony or gross misdemeanor convictions
  • Pass an oral examination
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Successful applicants must complete the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Reserve Officer School. This requirement may be waved if applicant is currently enrolled in a law enforcement program.
